Who We Are
The human side of The Dacsy Shack
We are Carole and Martin Handley, AKA The Slaves. We are the owners of The Dacsy Shack and the guardians of Mia and Macy - until they find better slaves. We live in Jarrow, Tyne and Wear.
We fell in love with the Dachshund breed over 9 years ago. We eventually homed Mia, our black and tan baby.
After a few years we realised we couldn't just have one so the hunt was on. We wanted another one with Mia's great temperament, so we decided to breed her.
We of course kept one of her 3 pups and Macy became part of the family.
We are not breeders, we are Dachshund lovers so Mia and Macy are now both spayed. We keep in touch with the slaves of Mia's other pups, Frankie and Dexter.
Mia and Macy have totally different characters but their temperaments are the same, very loving and loyal but also very protective. Mia is Carole's baby and Macy is Martin's.
A Dachshund's eyesight isn't the greatest according to research, but trust me there is nothing wrong with their hearing, they can hear an ant fart from 100 metres and a crisp packet rustle from 200 metres.

We know how important it is to know where your dogs will be staying whilst you enjoy your break away.
Our home has secure gardens front and rear that provide a safe and comfortable environment for all furry friends with decked and slabbed area, also an area of grass. A log cabin for when the weather is in our favour. Our home is located in Jarrow, Tyne & Wear. We have a couple of big grassy areas just 200 yards from our house which Mia and Macy enjoy exploring.
There are longer walks available to us.
Our guests will be treated like our own dogs and have plenty of time for cuddles on the sofa. We take great care to ensure that all of our slinky guests feel right at home and have everything they need to be comfortable during their stay.
